For Publishers
If your work appears here
What we take, what we never take, how to be removed, and what you get from it. Written for the people whose feeds this site is built on.
The short version
- We read your published feed and nothing else. No page of yours is fetched.
- We show your headline and a link to you. Extracts and pictures only if your feed offers them and your robots file allows automated readers.
- Stories we write about link to you without
nofollow. We vouch for them, so you get the link. - Ask to be removed and you are gone within 24 hours, no reason required.
What we take
Your headline, your link, the date your feed gives, and, where your feed offers them
and your robots.txt admits automated readers, the short description and the
picture your feed carries. That is the whole list. It is decided by a
permission tier read from your own published signals, and
the tier for every source is shown on the sources page.
What we never take
- Your article text. We never fetch an article page. Feeds only.
- A summary made by a machine from your words. Our notes are written from the headline and the source pattern, and they say so.
- Anything at all, if your robots file blocks even the bots that exist to cite you. A publisher refusing the referral is asking to be left out, and we leave them out and say so.
What you get
Traffic, with your name on it. Every card names you as the source and every
link opens on your site. Links from stories we write about carry no
nofollow: we chose them, so we vouch for them. Links in the plain index,
which is selected automatically, carry nofollow because we have not
vouched for those, and we would rather say which is which than pretend.
We send the referrer, so you can see the traffic came from here. We run no analytics of our own, so we cannot tell you how much; that number is yours to read, not ours.
To be removed
Email theoriesofanything@gmail.com. You are removed within 24 hours. You do not need to give a reason and we will not ask for one. This is a standing policy, not a courtesy, and it applies to creators exactly as it applies to publishers.
To be listed
We are glad to hear from you, though the list stays deliberately small: every source here has a line written about it and every creator has a page. If you publish a feed, send its address. If you do not, you are in good company; several of the most important labs publish none, and the sources page says which.
Our own robots file
We read yours to decide what we may take, so we publish our own. alienlifeai.com/robots.txt admits every reader, including the AI crawlers, because a site that asks publishers to allow citation cannot reasonably refuse it itself. That stance is the owner's to change and the file will say if it does.
Something is wrong about you
A write-up that misdescribes your channel, a headline attributed to the wrong outlet, a tier you think is unfair: tell us. Corrections are logged publicly on the corrections page with what was wrong and what changed.
